OUTSIDE INDUSTRIAL SALES REPRESENTATIVE


Work Location: Gulf Coast—Pensacola, Mobile, Fort Walton, Panama City

Summary

An experienced outside salesperson who will be responsible for taking an existing, under-performing sales territory and growing it by improving relationships with existing and past customers, as well as identifying and penetrating new account prospects. Will call on a full range of industrial, commercial and government accounts including metalworking, lumber, pulp and paper, chemicals, petrochemicals, military facilities, aircraft and marine, utilities, contractors, etc. Will offer a full range (over 100,000 items) of top-name industrial supplies, capital goods and OEM materials.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

1. Develop sales plan of targeted customers and markets.
2. Plan sales work  on a long-term basis by setting quotas for calls made to potential and current customers.
3. Prepare and maintain weekly sales call itinerary.
4. Meet or exceed sales goal.
5. Identify key buying influence at each account.
6. Determine each customer/prospects’ objectives.
7. Communicate customer objectives to Company associates and develop sales plan for each account.
8. Work jointly with supplier sales representatives.
9. Develop technical knowledge of Company products and services.
10. Prepare Company presentations.


Supervision

No supervisory responsibilities are required.

Education and Experience

Associate or higher degree from accredited college or university.  Minimum of five years’ successful track record calling on industrial markets.

Computer Skills

Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint at intermediate level. Experience with database management and data mining a plus.

1. Must be detail-oriented and diligent in promptly following up on sales leads and opportunities, identifying customer service needs and issues and applying problem-solving skills to resolve them.
2. Good communication skills—verbal and written. Must be an effective nexus between customers, colleagues and suppliers.

4. Competitive spirit based upon will to win, need to serve customers and desire to make money.
5. Discipline and organizational ability to plan and follow a sales plan consistently, as well as to allocate call efforts efficiently and productively.

7. Utilize strategic thinking and innovation. Develop and execute plans and strategies to achieve organizational objectives and take advantage of organizational strengths while minimizing weaknesses. Analyze market and competitive threats and opportunities.

Compensation

GOVERNMENT/MILITARY PROCUREMENT SPECIALIST

Summary

Responsible for developing bid invitations and quotation opportunities for industrial materials such as mechanics hand tool kits to DoD agencies, sites and contractors; Federal government agencies and departments, including GSA; State agencies and departments; public authorities; and public vocational-technical school systems.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

1. Develop list of prospective customers and their individual contact information.
2. Establish and build prospect relationships by personal visit, attendance at trade fairs, direct mail, etc.
3. Determine policies and procedures for business solicitation at each prospect. Obtain placement on qualified bidders’ lists.
4. Oversee and coordinate Company bidding and quotation efforts to assure proper responsiveness, sourcing, specifications, pricing, delivery, etc.
5. Oversee and coordinate Company performance on successful bids and quotations.
6. Develop long-term contractual relationships with agency personnel and management.

Supervision

No supervisory responsibilities required.

Education and Experience

Associate or higher degree from accredited college or university. Government contract experience strongly desired—either procurement for government agencies/contractors, marketing to government agencies/contractors, or both.

Computer Skills

Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint at intermediate level. Experience in data base and data mining a plus.
